Kimono does not only represent nationality but also age and social status which assist in distinguishing an individual personally upon greeting. Marital status can also be guessed in accordance to the type of kimono worn by a women or men. An unmarried woman would be dressed in a colorful looking kimono with sleeves that are flowing till the wrists however if a woman is married, the sleeves would be much more short. But in today’s Japan, the Kimono is mostly a traditional outfit meant for specific occasions. Elderly people are seen often using the kimono as a comfort outfit at home. Kimono’s used for celebrations or functions often possess elaborate design, woven embroidery or dyed designs however if the outfit is meant for a more casual use then it would be much simpler in look and design.
